I have an Argon case for my Pi 4 and it has a problem with its fan controller. On power up the fan randomly spins at 100% and it’s an annoying sound. At least the Pi 5 has an internal fan connector so that shouldn’t be a problem here. The build quality of the case is top notch and this looks to be the same. My only wish for this one is that the fan be a standard size so it can be replaced with a quieter fluid bearing fan if desired.

Once Zorin became my daily driver, I went ahead and bought the Pro version. As Chris pointed out, it doesn't do a whole lot more than the core version. But I like to support open source software when I use it. I'm also the sucker who paid for Malwarebytes and WinRAR. hehe I used those, though. Anyway, if you're sick of the intrusive Windows updates and nonstop sales pitch, Zorin is a pretty easy switch to make. I use it everyday.

Interesting board and a nice display that RISC-V is moving forward with pretty big steps. But I still guess that the first consumer-ready devices we might see with RISC-V inside will be stuff like routers and other network or "smart" devices where no one will notice it unless they look at the spec sheet. Still, I think RISC-V is heading towards a bright future and might become a worthy rival for x86 and ARM soon-ish.

They are to the point, clear, cover the important parts without going down rabbit holes - and best of all, provide quality resources that actually help. Please keep it up! And if you arent already covering this topic and are very brave, consider ROS2 tutorials (without using containers). Thanks again. Subbed. i def disagree with that guy claiming the market share of pcs for arm will increase. I've proven that in my videos that arm has along way to go for gaming and processing. i agree it will increase but it wont since relying on the community to add advancements. a lower end x86 chip still out performs arm in computations. and since intel has dropped there price I think they should be more modest. even now on arm box 86 has stopped development

Your content is helpful and your efforts are quite appreciated. As a fan of your content, I have some constructive criticism to share--it may sound harsh, but know it comes from a place kindness and brotherhood, not mockery. It's awkward feedback from any angle, so I'll say it bluntly: you would benefit by you going to a barber and asking them for their advice on, and implementation of, a new hair style. "Style" clearly has no absolute relationship with the meaning of life, one's value, or the quality of their personality, however when one is attempting to grow a channel on a social platform, one must recognize viewers will make snap decisions based on appearances. "Style" readily influences how a viewer is going to feel about you and your content, and unfortunately, I estimate your present hair style causes some negative snap decisions. Yes, still be yourself in every way, but, IMO, being oneself is a function which takes arguments and mutates the output with it's own internal magic--even if it is over something so shallow as "style choices".

@@Praxibetel-Ix don't get me wrong. I don't mean to be hurtful or a contrarian. I am happy to be in the wrong on this; EC has its charm as is. But I also think the circle of geeks and nerds tends to be quite insular. We don't put the same importance on "style" as most of the world does. Or, probably more acurately, we are more cerebral and less inclined towards fads, mere appearance, etc. And that's great...usually. But in the context of a RUclips channel "style" contributes to viewership and "success" wrt "the algorithm".

@@erik.schlegelChris has been doing videos for 16 years at this point and has always sported the same hairdo in varying lengths. One can also buy an enterprise SSD, that will sustain the write speed throughout the whole drive. Also, many of them have a lot more DRAM, like 4gb, absorbing quite quickly more of the OS random write operations (that tend to make a system feel slow if not enough cache is available).

there are a couple of things i don't like about 23.10, and i see they haven't changed in 24.04: - when i click a dock icon, there is no feedback to let me know that the app is being launched. in older versions at least the name of the app appeared in the title bar, but that has been removed. - the close, minimize and maximize buttons should be in the top LEFT corner, not top right. i hope there's a new version of tweaks that can take care of that. - it bothers me that the windows don't have frames which makes it hard to see where one window ends and another begins. no bueno.

Another excellent video. This one is so helpful I do not need to refer to any other to complete my home networking project. You have thought and laid out the steps in a logical manner that networking enthusiasts, whom are not IT specialists like myself, would find easy to follow and implement. My only problem is how to estimate the actual length of cable needed from one point to another within my apartment? The wiring will go through pipes already embedded within my thick brick walls and not in a straight line. Perhaps I could measure the straight line distance then multiply by 2? Any advice by anyone is welcome.

Longevity of archives is a serious problem. I have vinyl records dating back to the 1950's/60's and they still work . I did a lot of recording onto DAT at the turn of the century and I now have tape dropout on some archive recordings (which have been stored properly) and have had failures during storage of the tape decks themselves. Some of the equipment is over 25 years old and capacitors (especially) in the decks dry out and fail, the greases congeal, belts perish etc. What isn't going to stop these affecting archival hardware we decide to invest in now? The point I'm making with DAT is that it is a tape format and is pretty old so I am 25 years ahead of the use curve compared to HDD's etc. The basic tech in a DAT drive is similar to any other spinning magnetic media fundamentally and will be susceptible to similar failure modes to my experiences over time. Exactly the same with my Sony mini-DV recordings made at the same time. I have had CD recordings of music delaminate (even good brands) and with more and more density, I honestly do not think that there is a safe way of archiving material for a significant time on digital media. With M-Disk, are you going toe be able to actually get a drive to get the data off in 40 years time with hardware that is available then? With the ever increasing data density we want to archive, the potential chances of long term storage diminish. Enjoy what you have now. All of my really important archives are held here and on cloud storage but again, that offers zero long-term longevity. I'm not trying to be a miserable SOB, this subject really does open quite a debate on so many levels.
